We got back a week ago from our trip to Socal/Mammoth. It was a really fun trip and the drive back here wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Brian and I haven't been to Mammoth for a few years, and I completely forgot how high the altitude was there. 7500 feet at base (which is what it was at the condo we stayed at) and almost 12,000 feet at the top of the peak (which none of us except Brian got to while he skied) really does a number on your lungs. Going up a short flight of stairs winded me.
The weather was really warm while we were there, so it was awesome not having to bundle Nolan up every time we left the house. We all went dog sledding for the first and probably last time. It was a neat experience, but really not all that. During the ride I kept thinking, This is so weird, we're being pulled by these poor dogs. We did it because I was for some reason hell-bent on getting Nolan some kind of experience while in Mammoth when in reality, he pretty much hated it and whined/cried throughout the whole ride. I realized afterward that he was probably completely blinded by the sun and snow--duh, all the adults we're wearing sunglasses for a reason. Yeah I know, what a GREAT mom I am.
The a-frame condo Brian found was pretty awesome, too. We'll definitely be repeat customers to this house.
Anyway, some pictures, because that's what you're really here for:
The three of us on the deck of the condo.
Nolan and his grandparents at Mammoth Village.
Nolan ponders whether he'll ever see his kitties again.
Playing legos with Halmoni.
Nolan spots a UFO at Mammoth!
Say nugget! (that's really what the musher who took our picture said)
They work hard for their kibble (lugging stupid humans around).
Connect Four--Game 26 of 1789 (we played A LOT of Connect Four; Nolan carried pieces around in his mouth for us).
We avoided the clean-up fee by having Nolan "wash" all the windows. Yum!
