Here's a random assortment of recent photos. Nolan got haircut #2 last Sunday, which is why he looks ready to join the military (high and tight!). Though dressing him in camo doesn't help matters. This trip to the beauty salon involved fewer tears but much more head jerking/twisting and Nolan threw in some screaming for good measure. It seems so much easier to have a girl when it comes to hair, because you can just let it grow--I'm really not looking forward to taking him for a haircut every few months. I suppose we could let Nolan's hair grow too, but unfortunately, Nolan's hair tends to get mullet-y, and this is not a look we want our son to rock, at least not while we have any say in the matter.
Anyway, without further ado:

T-Shirt Contest of the Non Dry Variety*
You know those athletes--runners come to my mind--who, say, during a race, run by and grab water and throw it at their faces? I'm not sure if they're attempting to drink any of that water or if it's just to cool off, but Nolan's training for that. Not the running part, just the water on the face part. Or he's figuring out the best technique for a not dry t-shirt show*. (oh no he di'int!!) See for yourselves:

*i don't want any unsavory folk to find nolan's preh-shus site after googling the common term for this type of contest (see: drunken party games for idiots). there's just some nasty stuff going on in them there interwebs is all.

Attack of the (almost) 3 Foot Monster*
It's been awhile since I've actually written anything about the dear old boy, and I'm not in the mood to write anything now, so....here's a video to tide y'all over.

Oh all right, if you're gonna beg, here's one more of him chatting on the phone:

Riveting stuff, I tell ya...
*cutest monster you ever did see! also, i mean 3 feet in height--nolan hasn't grown a third foot. although, how cool would a tripedal toddler be?

Laser Show
Uncle Chris bought the kitties a laser pointer for Christmas. Loads of fun for the cats and also good for a workout (for Rocco's paunchy belly). Apparently, Nolan loves the laser pointer, too! Especially if we shine it directly into his eyes! Wait, no...that's not right.
Too bad we accidentally left the cat hat back in MA. Thanks anyway, though, Chris. (But Rocco and Charley are thanking me.)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I know. I KNOW. It was all weeks ago. Cut me some slack, I've got an active toddler on my hands these days. A toddler who is "all boy," which a few people have told me (a phrase I take to euphemistically mean, hyper/crazy/gets into everything).
Anyway, Christmas in New England was beautiful and perfectly white. I mean the snow, of course, not describing spending time with Nolan's caucasian half of the family, ha HA. All jokes aside, Nolan's Mimi and Papa have a beautiful home in Newburyport, and it was quite the quintessential Christmas indeed. There was sledding, fun with cousin Haley and Uncle Chris, Wii tournaments, a Patriots game that was a breeze, a Patriots game that was a nail biter, a visit to Portsmouth, NH (such a lovely city--who knew?), a trip to the Dalton Club, and lots and lots of presents.
Here are a few photo highlights:

Three generations of Wyser men in front of Newburyport Wyser home

Nolan shows us how he really feels about sledding

Haley makes out like a bandit on Christmas day

Third day's a charm. He finally gets why it's fun.

Getting ready to sled down. Haley and Nolan are excited!

Aprés sled. Nolan is rosy cheeked and adorable.

Brian and Nolan make a First Impression at the Portsmouth Children's Museum.

Chris and Haley at the museum.

Mimi and Nolan in their Pats colors.

All in all, it was a wonderful Christmas/winter vacation. Nolan was great on the plane, especially the trip home (slept 2+ hours, even through heavy turbulence), and it didn't take that long for Nolan to return to west coast time. Score!
New years eve, on the hand...well, Nolan was out like a light by 8 as usual, and I was out not long after. First time in a long time I didn't stay up to watch the stupid ball drop on TV (on tape delay, of course...anticlimactic much?). Meh. Who cares? New years eve is overrated, I say. But to everyone else who went out: I'm sure it was the BEST. PARTY. EVER! Happy 2008 y'all!
Next post: Laser Pointers! Fun for cats...AND toddlers too!
